About the Growers

We are Steve and Caroline Pochedly of northeast Ohio. Thanks for stopping by Perennialville!

Steve comes from a generational farm family who has owned and operated 500 farmable acres of sandy loam soil for the last 75 years and counting! Located in Hiram, OH directly along the St. Lawrence River Continental Divide, our land is uniquely equipped for growing the best crops in the nation.  What started as quite literally small potatoes in the 19050’s quickly turned into a robust, large-scale operation supplying local grocers and roadside stands, becoming a renowned choice produce grower across the state.

Steve’s father began the greenhouse business in the late 80’s, serving the community with affordable annuals and perennials after graduating from THE Ohio State University with a degree in Horticultural Sciences. Steve grew up on the farm and graduated from Kent State University. He has spent the last 12 years in Supply Chain & Operations roles in large scale manufacturing, gaining vast experience in how to build and run large scale businesses through organizational and operational excellence.

Caroline and Steve married in the Fall of 2022 surrounded by pumpkins & cornstalks grown on the farm, of course. Caroline is a Registered Nurse with a major local healthcare network in the Cleveland area. Together, the pair are passionate about family, their business, and helping carry the torch that is Pochedly agriculture & horticulture into the future.

When not at the farm or greenhouse, they enjoy traveling, exploring the great outdoors (especially America’s great National Parks), foraging, cooking, camping and of course being surrounded by the company of friends.

How did Perennialville Begin?

Perennialville started amidst pandemic shutdowns back in 2019, leaning in to low-touch delivery solutions through e-commerce fulfillment. We opened the Etsy shop, and it was off to the races. Our plants’ quality immediately stood out compared to starter plugs most businesses sell, and our business has quickly blossomed into something special. We currently offer over 80 varieties and add more each year. We have also started dipping our toe in the water with Fall and Spring planted flower bulbs.

Whether you are building out a sun-filled pollinator garden, shady woodland border, a cottage or rock garden, we’ve got you covered! From tall shrubby Shasta daisies and poppies to low growing ground covers, we offer plants hardy within various growing zones across North America. Our site here is still new, but eventually we will add the ability to purchase directly on here! Check out our Etsy page in the meantime to shop our current offerings.

Our intent as we build out our website is for create a space rich in resources, supporting growers of all scales to do just that. From insights, growing tips, troubleshooting, and application ideas, to videos, we are just getting started.

When we aren’t working during the growing season, we enjoy traveling, hiking, exploring, and fishing! Always finding creative ways to enjoy the land. We are avid Cleveland spots fans, though we haven’t made it to many games since our family has begun expanding!

What Does the Future Hold?

We’re incredibly excited to start building a home on the farm within the next year! This will open the door to many other opportunities. Our journey is just beginning and transparently, we aren’t certain where it will take us. As our family is growing, our ultimate hope is simply to raise a home built on the same values as the farm on which it sits. We cherish and toast the past while not shying away from challenges the future will bring us. Here’s to the generation who will come after us. Until then, buckle in, because it’s just about to get exciting!
