Description
Papaver Orientale ‘Brilliant Red’ is the most classic poppy plant, which was made famous by New Mexico artist Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings. Blooms in late Spring with large, fiery satin scarlet red flowers with black centers, providing a cheerful display. This poppy plant forms upright clumps of fern-like leaves profusely covered in hairs. This poppy, like others, usually goes dormant completely by late Summer. Because they disappear almost completely later in the season, it’s a good idea to plant them beside something that will take their place, such as Rudbeckia. Until then, watch these classic poppy plants bloom in spectacle! See below for water, soil type and sun/shade recommendations.
